All stand for the Queen of the Blues
Playbird in the National News
Slow hand for the Queen of the Blues
Get down on your knees before her
Snapshots from an innocent age
Make love whilst paying the mortgage
She’s still my number one fave
No-one holds a candle to her...
Mary Mary – Come play with me in your perspex shoes
Mary Mary – She’s the Queen of the Blues
Sports day on a hot afternoon
Big J’s got a crowd in his room
All eyes on the angel of June
As she spreads her wings and pops some staples
Oh boys – what a perfect disgrace!
Cold Coke and a tangle of lace
Can’t wipe that smile off my face
All of this for one pound fifty
Mary Mary – Come play with me in your perspex shoes
Mary Mary – She’s the Queen of the Blues
She said “The Vice Squad have framed me again - they frighten me so much
This time I'm not getting bail - I might be sent back to Holloway Jail
I'll be rotting away in a cold prison cell for stealing a book from a January sale...”
Na, na na na.... Aye, aye, aye, aye Give it up now for the Queen of the Blues...
All stand for the Queen of the Blues
Playbird in the National News
Slow hand for the Queen of the Blues
She had no shame, they showed no mercy
Showbiz drove her into the grave
Some girls don’t know how to behave
But she’s still my number one rave
She’ll always be Queen of the Blues
Mary Mary – Come play with me in your perspex shoes
Mary Mary – She’s the Queen...
Mary Mary – Come play with me in your perspex shoes
Mary Mary – She’s the Queen of the Blues
A love song for the love of my early teens - star of stage screen and top-shelf gentleman's publication in the late 70's, Mary Millington. She was a classic troubled celebrity who came to a sad and sticky end after trying so hard to control her destiny in what was a brutal male controlled industry. Special thanks to Johnny Trunk at Trunk Records for the use of the Mary Millington Sample from his nostalgic compilation CD of 70's audio smut "Flexi-Sex".
